Pinelands Regional High School, NJ

John Tierney has brought new energy and direction to Pinelands Regional football since taking over as head coach, leading the Wildcats to their first winning season in 20 years. A former Mater Dei standout and four-year starter at Towson University, Tierney previously coached at Pinelands, Mater Dei, and Lacey before stepping into the head role. His early success earned him Shore Conference Coach of the Year honors and recognition as the New York Giants’ Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week.

In addition to coaching football, Tierney serves as a special-education math teacher and leads the girls’ flag football team, helping expand opportunities for young athletes at Pinelands. Known for his steady leadership and commitment to player development, he has become a respected figure within the school and the Shore Conference community. Tierney lives in Bayville with his wife, Kathy, and their four children.
