Class of ’27 Matix Frithsmith. I have only built upon a strong sophomore campaign—one that culminated in All-State honors—by elevating every part of my game this season. I have lined up in multiple positions as my coach has tried to maximize my athleticism and natural playmaking ability, and I feel I have delivered at an exceptional level.
I finished the year as the leading rusher in our league with 1,303 yards and was second in receiving yards with 1,090—just 81 yards behind the leader, who played an extra game. I also led the league in total touchdowns with 27. In all, I accumulated nearly 2,700 all-purpose yards, a mark that would place me in the top three in a category typically dominated by quarterbacks.
One of my personal goals this season was to demonstrate his versatility as a true multi-purpose, hybrid player. I got off to a strong start, earning the CalHi Sports SoCal Special Teams and Multi-Purpose Player of the Week award after Week 1.
After 10 games, I recorded 977 rushing yards and 951 receiving yards—impressive by any standard, but not enough for me. During the bye week and first round of playoffs, I continued to put in the work, ultimately breaking through the 1,000 mark in both categories and achieving his goal of averaging 200 yards of offense per game—a testament to my grit and work ethic.
I earned First Team All-League recognition and will be named All-CIF this year. I was previously All-League as a sophomore and was recognized as All-State by CalHi Sports.
I also compete in Baseball in the spring, playing the outfield and 3rd base. Last year I was awarded All League honors. I am working hard to not only repeat but surpass my previous success.
When I am not training I participate in my local chapter of the FCA and enjoy going to youth group nights. I also work as an umpire at the local park, it is not only a way to earn some gas money but I able to impact the youth and try to help coach and guide them while out there
